Getting Boozy With it - Video Explainer
Being stuck in quarantine can lead to some pretty creative ideas, which is exactly what led Grant Moffat to start creating his own booze. From a range of rum to vodka, Moffat found inspiration from shows and movies and decided to take on the task of creating his own distiller to make alcohol. Moffat’s walls are lined with different jars of booze, and he has books filled with recipes and information regarding booze. “Making your own booze is all about chemistry,” says Moffat. With time and effort, Moffat is able to produce a warm and strong rum, a bold bourbon, and a still-in-the-works vodka. When tasting the rum, it left quite a warm feeling in the chest. We recruited a couple of friends to test the alcohol with us, and they all had a variety of reactions. “The taste is spot on to a spiced rum you would buy in the store, just stronger,” says Alex Iovinelli. “The concept is really interesting, my dad does something similar with wine.” When making booze at home, it's safe to say it's not an easy task but, with some research and some creativity, you’re on your way to a grand start.
